Description

A trio of Victorian-style porcelain pedestal dishes, possibly English and resembling the work of Samuel Alcock or similar Staffordshire potteries. The set comprises one oval twin-handled compote and two circular single-handled compotes. Each vessel features a central hand-painted botanical floral spray on a white ground, framed by a wide apple-green glazed border. The scalloped rims are decorated with reticulated pierced cutouts and molded foliate scrolls, embellished with raised gilding and gilt stippling. The underside of each base displays handwritten characters in pink ink consisting of the numbers 1907 over the number 1 or 2. Each base also features a worn rectangular gold-toned paper label with illegible text. No factory stamps are present. Oval dish: 12 inches length Circular dishes: 10 inches diameter Height: 2.25 inches. The items are in good overall condition with minor wear to the gilding consistent with age. One circular dish shows a fine hairline crack extending from the rim toward the center.
