Description
This set of twelve porcelain plates is produced by the Carl Teichert factory in Meissen, Germany, commonly known as City Meissen. The plates are decorated in the traditional Blue Onion or Zwiebelmuster pattern using an underglaze blue transfer-ware technique. The decoration features a central floral and foliate motif with a stylized bamboo stalk, surrounded by a border of alternating pomegranates, peaches, and floral sprigs. Each plate is designed with a circular form and a scalloped rim. The larger plates bear an underglaze blue mark consisting of the name MEISSEN in an arch below a cross and arrow symbol, along with an impressed MEISSEN mark. The smaller plates feature an underglaze blue oval mark containing the name MEISSEN with a small symbol to the right. Large Plates: Approx. 9.75 in diameter Small Plates: Approx. 7.75 in diameter The plates are in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. Minimal shelf wear is present on the foot rings.
