Description
A glazed ceramic figurine produced by Florence Ceramics of Pasadena, California, titled Matilda. The figure depicts a woman in a stylized Victorian-era gown and hat. The color palette features tones of beige and reddish-brown with a glossy finish. The hat and the muff held in the left hand are decorated with applied spaghetti or lace ceramic accents highlighted with gold-colored glaze. The underside of the base features an incised script name reading Matilda and a circular backstamp that reads PASADENA CALIFORNIA Florence Ceramics COPYRIGHT. Height: 8 1/2 inches The figurine is in very good condition. The delicate ceramic spaghetti detailing on the hat and muff appears to be fully intact. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible. There is minor surface wear on the unglazed underside of the base consistent with age.
