Description
This contemporary carved wood sculpture depicts a standing angel in a draped gown, rendered in a decorative folk style. The figure features large, detachable wings with a gilded finish that slot into a metal mounting bracket on the reverse. The sculpture stands upon a coordinating three-part turned wood pedestal base with a peg-in-hole assembly. A small circular sticker is present on the top surface of the pedestal bearing a label that reads MADE IN PHILIPPINES. The carving depicts the figure with one hand raised toward the face and the other extended, with stylized hair and drapery. The construction consists of solid wood elements for the body, wings, and multi-part base. Height: 28 inches Wings Width: 25 inches. The piece shows natural drying checks and cracks throughout the wood, particularly visible on the reverse of the figure and the pedestal base, which is consistent with the material. There is minor rubbing and gilt loss visible on the wings, along with small surface scuffs to the wood.
