Description

This set of glazed earthenware, or faience, is produced by Henriot Quimper in France. The collection consists of a large pitcher with a pinched spout, a small creamer pitcher, a globular teapot with a fitted lid, a small cylindrical bowl, and a circular plate. The pieces feature a traditional Breton style with a vibrant mustard-yellow ground decorated with hand-painted overglaze floral and foliate sprays in a palette of dark blue, forest green, and iron-red. The rims, handles, and lid finial are finished with a dark green sponged or stippled decorative border. Each item is hand-marked on the base in black with the Henriot Quimper signature and various numerical designations. Measurements: Large Pitcher: 6 inches (H) Small Pitcher: 3.75 inches (H) Teapot (with lid): 4.5 inches (H) Plate: 6.5 inches (Diameter). The teapot shows a small chip to the ceramic body at the tip of the spout. The plate has a visible hairline crack extending approximately 2 inches from the rim toward the center, most clearly seen on the underside. The set exhibits minor surface wear, shelf wear on the unglazed foot rings, and small glaze pinholes or pitting consistent with the manufacturing process of traditional faience. No other major chips, cracks, or professional repairs are noted.
