Description
A contemporary Peruvian folk art gourd, traditionally known as a Mate Burilado, crafted from a dried Lagenaria siceraria gourd. The surface is decorated using fine-line carving and pyrography techniques to achieve varying shades of brown and tan. The primary motif features a stylized human figure in traditional Andean attire, including a broad-brimmed hat and a poncho with geometric borders. The figure is depicted holding a small bottle in one hand and a flared cup in the other, a scene associated with festive social gatherings. The composition is accented by radiating decorative bands with serrated edges creating a sunburst effect. The base is hand-inscribed with the mark E-M and PERU.
