Description
This collection includes four vintage teacup and saucer sets of English and Japanese origin. Two sets are produced by Royal Vale, a brand of Ridgway Potteries Ltd., England. These bone china sets feature transfer-printed floral designs, including one blue cornflower pattern and one pink rosebud pattern. Both English sets consist of scalloped saucers and matching footed teacups with scrolled handles and gilt rims. The bases are marked with a crown above an oval reading Royal Vale Bone China Made in England. The remaining two sets are Japanese porcelain lusterware. One set features a yellow floral pattern on a lobed cup supported by three gilt-tipped peg feet with a matching scalloped saucer. The second Japanese set features a white floral pattern on a pedestal-footed cup. Both Japanese sets are decorated with a gold-veined marbleized ground, heavy gilt handles, and iridescent luster-glazed interiors. One saucer retains a red and silver foil manufacturer sticker for Relco, Japan. Measurements: Cup Height: Approximately 2.5 to 3 inches Saucer Diameter: Approximately 5.5 inches. The saucer of the blue cornflower set has a visible hairline crack extending from the rim toward the center. The remaining pieces are in good vintage condition with no other chips, cracks, or repairs. There is light, age-appropriate wear to the gilt trim and base rims. Minor manufacturing imperfections may be present.
