Description
This collection consists of three English earthenware transferware plates and one molded opalescent glass plate. The first item is a red transfer-printed souvenir plate for Florida Cypress Gardens, produced by Adams in Staffordshire, England, and imported by Jonroth. The decoration features several vignettes including an aerial view of the parking space, water skiers in a human pyramid, a palm terrace, and electric boat tours, with a central scene of a bridge over water. The reverse includes the maker marks for Adams and Jonroth and a printed poem. The second item is a blue and white transferware plate in the Countryside pattern by Wedgwood and Co. Ltd. (Enoch Wedgwood). The central scene depicts a river landscape with a multi-arched stone bridge and a hilltop castle. The reverse bears the Wedgwood and Co. Ltd. unicorn trademark. The third item is a square earthenware plate with rounded, scalloped corners by Hollinshead and Kirkham (H&K), Tunstall. It is decorated with polychrome floral bouquets of roses and blue flowers over a brown lace-like circular pattern with a gilded rim. The fourth item is a circular molded glass plate with a translucent white body and a light blue opalescent rim. The form features a scalloped edge and radial fluting with a central starburst medallion and scrollwork motifs. Measurements: 9-10.5 inches diameter The Florida Cypress Gardens plate is in good condition with no visible chips or cracks to the front. The Wedgwood Countryside plate has a visible chip and a possible old repair on the upper rim at the 11 o’clock position. The H&K Tunstall plate shows extensive crazing across the glaze on both the front and back. The opalescent glass plate exhibits surface scratches and utensil marks in the center but is free of major chips or cracks.
Condition report:
The Florida Cypress Gardens plate is in good condition with no visible chips or cracks to the front. The Wedgwood Countryside plate has a visible chip and a possible old repair on the upper rim at the 11 o\'clock position. The H&K Tunstall plate shows extensive crazing across the glaze on both the front and back. The opalescent glass plate is in excellent condition.
