Description
This hand-carved hardwood sculpture, likely ebony, is the work of David Kimunnya. The piece depicts a trio of antelopes, consisting of two adults and one juvenile, rendered in a stylized modern aesthetic. The figures are positioned on an integrated rectangular wooden base with rounded corners. The signature David Kimunnya is incised into the upper surface of the base. The underside of the base retains a gallery label from Far Away Places Gallery of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and features four green felt protective pads. The sculpture is finished with a deep, dark patina. 12 x 12 inches The sculpture exhibits a deep, lustrous dark patina with minor surface scratches and faint, stable wood grain checks consistent with the material. A small chip is visible on the tip of one of the larger antelopes horns.
