Description
This hand-carved wooden sculpture depicts two figures in a secular folk scene, featuring a larger crouching adult carrying a smaller child on their back. The figures are rendered in a style characteristic of Southeast Asian folk art, possibly originating from Burma or a neighboring region. Both figures wear traditional garments decorated with incised geometric patterns, including cross-hatched diamond motifs on the borders and sleeves. They are depicted with stylized facial features and traditional headpieces. The sculpture is finished with traces of polychrome pigment in reddish-brown and green tones. The construction shows evidence of manual carving techniques throughout the form and decorative details.
