Description
This hand-carved wood sculpture depicts a male bust with a mustache and a tall cylindrical cap, executed in a rustic folk-art style. The work is carved from a single block of wood, with the top of the head and the base displaying the natural end grain and growth rings of the timber. The facial features are deeply carved, including expressive eyes and a textured mustache. The cap and hair sections feature rhythmic, linear tool marks. The sculpture is finished with a warm brown patina. No signatures, maker marks, or inscriptions are visible on the piece. 16 x 5.5 x 5 inches The sculpture exhibits prominent age-related longitudinal checking running down the back and side. Several smaller surface cracks and natural knot voids are present within the wood. There are minor scuffs and surface wear to the patina consistent with age and handling.
