Description
A figural brooch in the form of a leaping frog, featuring a raised relief of a human face with a mustache and beard on the body. The piece is crafted from sterling silver with a high-polish finish on the front and a textured, hollow-back construction. The frog is set with two round black cabochon-cut stones for eyes, which appear to be onyx or glass. These stones are opaque with a smooth surface. The reverse is equipped with a vertical pin stem and a revolving safety clasp. A 925 mark is incised on the back of one of the lower feet. Length: Approximately 1.75 inches Weight: 21.4 grams.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition. The silver front exhibits minor surface scratches and small pits consistent with age and wear. There is significant oxidation and tarnish present on the underside. The stones are secure in their settings and free of visible chips. The pin mechanism and safety clasp are functional.
