Description
A large studio pottery stoneware bowl by John Freimarck. The shallow circular form features four equidistant notches along the rim. The vessel is finished with a variegated glaze treatment in shades of cream with dark speckling, a broad band of reddish-maroon oxblood, and dark brown-to-black patches. The interior is decorated with two hand-painted stylized motifs in dark brown accented with elongated blue brushstrokes. The bowl rests on two concentric unglazed foot rings, revealing a light-colored, gritty clay body. The center of the base features a hand-painted maker mark in blue consisting of a single continuous loop.
Diameter: 13.5 inches
Height: 3 inches.
Condition report:
The bowl is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor surface irregularities and glaze speckling are present, consistent with the studio pottery firing process.
