Description
This vintage pressed steel ride-on fire truck was manufactured by Louis Marx and Co. and is identified as the VFD No. 6 Sit-N-Ride model. The toy is primarily constructed of pressed steel with red-painted finish. The side panels feature detailed lithographed graphics, alongside the initials V.F.D. for Volunteer Fire Department. Decals of fire helmets with the number 6 are applied to both cab doors. The vehicle is equipped with yellow metal wheel hubs and solid black rubber tires. Mechanical features include a front-mounted silver-tone metal bell, a steering column topped with a T-handle, and a drop-down rear tailgate. The maker’s mark is visible on the lithographed side panel, showing the circular Marx Toys logo with the text MADE IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
