Description
This lot features two mid-century American toys. The first is a Louis Marx and Company Junior Dial Typewriter constructed from lithographed tin-plate with orange plastic carriage knobs. The central rotating dial displays a yellow inner circle containing the Marx diamond logo with MAR over TOYS, accompanied by text reading MADE IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and NEW YORK N.Y. The outer dial is printed with DIAL TYPEWRITER. The mechanism includes a moving carriage with a black platen and a manual striking lever. The second item is a Tonka No. 5 Pumper Fire Truck, also known as the Suburban Pumper, manufactured from pressed steel with a red painted finish. The cab design features a chrome-colored grille with a V emblem indicative of mid-1950s Ford models. The truck is equipped with black rubber tires embossed with TONKA TOYS and U.S.A. Features include a manual hose reel with a black rubber hose and nozzle, chrome-colored side rails, a top-mounted siren, and side storage compartments with a functioning doors. The cab doors feature original gold-toned No. 5 graphics.

Both toys are in good vintage condition showing signs of age and play. The Marx typewriter has minor surface scratches and light dust accumulation, while the lithography remains bright. The Tonka fire truck shows paint wear and chipping, most notably on the cab roof and along the edges of the fenders. The chrome-colored components show light pitting and minor oxidation. The rubber hose and tires remain intact and flexible. Neither item is accompanied by its original box.
