This lot comprises two hardcover volumes. The first is a stated first edition, first printing of Andrew Jackson: His Life and Times by H.W. Brands, published by Doubleday in 2005. The volume is quarter-bound in maroon cloth with tan boards and features gilt-stamped lettering on the spine. It is inscribed by the author on the title page to a recipient named Tom: To Tom – A loyal Longhorn fan in Michigan. H.W. Brands. H.W. Brands is a noted historian and professor at the University of Texas at Austin, whose mascot is the Longhorn. The second book is a stated first edition, fifth printing of A Place Called Freedom by Ken Follett, published by Crown Publishers in 1995. The volume is quarter-bound in orange cloth with cream-colored boards and blue-stamped lettering on the spine.
Both volumes are offered without dust jackets. Andrew Jackson: The binding is tight and the boards are clean with sharp corners. The internal pages are bright and free from foxing or significant wear. The author’s inscription and signature are clear.
