Description
A mid-20th century Catholic Sick Call or Last Rites set designed for home liturgical use. The set is constructed from a light-toned wood base with decorative scalloped ends. The front panel functions as a removable crucifix that slides into a recessed slot on the base. The horizontal crossmember of the base features two circular wells designed to serve as candle holders. The crucifix features a cast metal corpus and a titulus marked INRI, both finished in a brass tone. The hollow interior of the base serves as a storage compartment for ritual accessories. The reverse includes a keyhole slot for wall mounting. The set includes a clear glass bottle embossed with HOLY WATER and a central cross, two unburnt white wax candles, and an original paper instruction sheet titled Instructions for use of the SICK CALL SET which describes the preparation for the Sacrament of Extreme Unction.

The set is in very good vintage condition. The wooden components show minimal surface wear and retain a consistent finish. The cast metal corpus and titulus are secure with a bright finish and no significant oxidation. The glass holy water bottle is free of chips or cracks. The candles are unburnt but show minor age-related discoloration. The paper instruction sheet is complete but shows typical creasing and slight yellowing from being stored folded within the unit.
