Description
This glazed porcelain figurine, titled Courage, was produced by Lladró in 1992 to commemorate the Special Olympics. The sculpture depicts a young male athlete in mid-stride, acting as a torchbearer. The figure is dressed in an athletic uniform consisting of a white t-shirt with blue ringer trim and the Special Olympics logo, light blue track pants with a single red stripe, and white sneakers. The boy holds a white and blue torch in his right hand. The figurine is set upon an oval base featuring stylized green vegetation. The underside of the base displays the blue Lladró factory mark with the tulip logo, Hand Made in Spain, and Daisa 1992. The model number 7522 is incised on the base, along with several other hand-incised characters reading L-12 F and M-9. A small hand-painted green mark and a blue dot are also present on the underside.
Height: 8.75 inches.
The item is in very good condition. No chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are observed. The torch remains fully intact. A small circular firing hole is present on the underside of the base as manufactured.
