Description
Stand is not included. This is a complete Japanese semi-formal visiting kimono set, known as a Houmongi, dating to the Showa period. The garment is constructed from deep navy blue silk crepe, likely chirimen, and features hand-painted and dyed floral decorations including camellias, chrysanthemums, and various seasonal blossoms.
The ensemble includes several coordinating components: a wide silk obi sash with a pale pink and silver ground featuring a woven leaf pattern; a peach and coral-toned silk obiage scarf utilizing the shibori tie-dye technique; and a coral-orange braided silk obijime cord with integrated gold metallic threads. Also present in the packaging is a white silk nagajuban undergarment and various dressing accessories.
Documentation and marks are present on the original packaging. A printed card and calligraphy on the wrapping identify the retailer as the Gofukubu (Kimono Department) of the Hankyu Department Store in Umeda, Osaka. The set remains in its original department store box and tissue paper.
Wingspan (Yuki): 50-52 inches.
The set is in excellent, near-pristine condition and appears to be unused. The silk fabric remains crisp and well-folded within its original retail packaging. There are no visible stains, discolorations, snags, or fading to the kimono, obi, or accessories. The original tissue paper and retail box show minor signs of age-related wear but have protected the contents.
