Lot 204:
Description
This lot consists of three antique domestic metalware items including a large tea kettle and two specialized irons. The tea kettle features a hand-hammered copper body with visible dovetailed (cramped) seams at the base and a vertical side seam, typical of 18th to mid-19th-century construction.
Kettle: 11.5 inches high; 11 inches wide
Sad iron: 4.5 inches long
Box iron: 5.25 inches long.
The kettle displays a significant aged patina with heavy verdigris oxidation on the underside, surface pitting, and several small dents consistent with age. The cast iron sad iron shows heavy surface oxidation, rust, and pitting, with significant wear to the handle grip. The brass box iron retains a dark, unpolished patina with minor surface wear to the wooden handle and horizontal scratches on the base from domestic use.
