Description
This is a vintage lithographed tin advertising serving tray produced for the H.J. Heinz Company. The tray features a commemorative graphic titled The Girl with the White Cap, which is a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century advertisement originally used on horse-drawn streetcars. The central illustration depicts a woman in profile wearing a blue and white striped blouse and a white mop cap, holding a vintage-style glass bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup. The background shows tomato plants under a clear sky. A circular logo in the lower-left corner contains the text Keystone Pickling and Preserving Works and H.J. Heinz Co. Pittsburg, U.S.A. The tray is designed with an olive green border accented by a gold-toned inner pinstripe. The reverse side is finished in olive green and includes a gold-bordered text box providing historical context regarding the advertisement’s origins and symbolism.
