Description

This lot features a pair of Mattel Hot Wheels die-cast toy cars, consisting of an original redline-era Porsche 917 and a later Vintage Series Red Baron hot rod. The Porsche 917 racing car is constructed with a die-cast metal body and base, featuring plastic windows and a white interior. It is finished in silver paint and includes a white circular decal on the side with the number 18. The model features an opening rear engine hatch that reveals a molded metal engine and is equipped with original-style redline wheels. The base is embossed with HOT WHEELS, PORSCHE 917, copyright 1969 MATTEL, INC. U.S.A., and U.S. and FOREIGN PATS. PEND.

The second vehicle is a Red Baron hot rod, a stylized design based on a World War I German fighter pilot theme. It features a die-cast metal body and base with a plastic helmet-style roof, steering wheel, and interior. The car is finished in metallic red Spectraflame-style paint with a silver-colored textured helmet roof and an exposed chrome-finished engine. It is equipped with redline wheels and features a small Hot Wheels logo decal on the rear. The base is embossed with the HOT WHEELS VINTAGE logo, RED BARON, copyright MATTEL, INC. 1969, and CHINA, indicating this is a later reissue from the Vintage Series or a similar commemorative line.

Red Baron Length: Approximately 2.25 inches.

The Porsche 917 shows moderate play wear and paint chipping along the edges, wheel wells, and front spoiler. The rear hatch mechanism is functional. The Red Baron is in overall very good condition with minimal signs of wear to the paint and plastic components. Both vehicles are loose and do not include original packaging.
