Description

Large-scale artist collector doll identified as Ruth, designed by Virginia E. Turner. This is a limited edition piece, numbered 75 out of 280 produced. The doll is constructed with a vinyl head, arms, and legs attached to a soft, stuffed cloth body. Identification marks include an incised copyright for 2001 and V. E. Turner on the back of the neck, with hand-written purple ink notations No. 75/280 and the date 2-21-02. The upper leg features the incised name Ruth and a 1997 copyright mark. The doll features a chestnut-brown synthetic wig with long curls and a light blue organza bow. It has fixed blue glass-style eyes with applied eyelashes and painted facial accents. The outfit comprises a white organza gown with vertical stripes and lace trim on the bodice and hem, a large blue satin sash and back bow, matching sleeve cuffs, and a blue satin underskirt. White mesh stockings and lace-trimmed bloomers are worn as undergarments.

Height: 33 inches.

Condition report:

Good overall condition. Lower legs will need some attention, as they are slipping out of the sockets. The front bodice of the organza dress shows a few small, faint yellow spots. The fabric is slightly wrinkled. The hair is slightly mussed but retains its curls. The vinyl is clean and free of scuffs or marks.
