Description
A vintage Fitz and Floyd glazed ceramic candy jar in the form of a jack-o-lantern pumpkin, dated 1987. The spherical jar features a hand-painted jack-o-lantern face on the front. Two dimensional figures are attached to the sides: a black cat with an arched back on one side and a waving white ghost on the other. The conforming lid is topped with a green-washed stem handle. The piece is constructed of molded ceramic with hand-painted underglaze and overglaze details. The underside of the base is marked in black: © FITZ AND FLOYD SriLanka 1987. This item includes its original blue Fitz and Floyd patterned cardboard box. The box retains a vintage department store price tag from Dayton’s Marshall Field’s Hudson’s and a product identification label reading GHOST/PUMPKIN CANDY JAR 20/453. Height: 6.5 inches Interior opening diameter: 5 inches. The candy jar is in good vintage condition with a notable small chip located on the interior rim of the pumpkin base where the lid rests. Not noticeable when the lid is on. There is light shelf wear consistent with age and use. The original box shows significant wear, including tape residue, surface abrasions, and tearing at the corners and edges.
