This large-scale abstract expressionist painting, titled Rhythm & Blues and dated 1981, is executed in acrylic on canvas. The upper verso stretcher bar bears a handwritten inscription reading Maximilian Shaye – Rhythm [crossed-out word] Blues – 1981. The canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher with a central vertical brace and is housed in a thin, silver-toned metal gallery frame. Multiple inventory labels for Oakland Family Services are attached to the verso.
