Description
This 18-inch composition bride doll was manufactured by the De Soto Manufacturing Co. of Chicago, Illinois. The doll features a composition head and limbs with blue sleep eyes and full eyelashes. It retains its original auburn wig, identified as Tosca on the box, which is styled in curls and held under a mesh hairnet. The doll is wearing its original cream-colored satin bridal gown with lace detailing on the bodice and tiered skirt. The ensemble is completed with a long net veil on a floral headband, white socks, cream-colored shoes, and a floral bouquet tied to the right wrist. The doll is housed in its original manufacturer’s box. The printed label on the box end reads: A De Soto Doll, DE SOTO MFG. CO. CHICAGO 54, ILL., SIZE 18, DRESS BRIDE, WIG TOSCA. A handwritten price of 11.98 is visible on the label.

The doll’s composition is in very good vintage condition with minimal crazing. Small dark specks are visible on the chest area. The clothing exhibits light age-related yellowing and minor soiling to the lace and net. The original box is in poor condition with heavy wear, creasing, tears, and several pieces of blue painter’s tape used for repairs.
