Description
This set of four contemporary Vietnamese lacquer wall panels is designed to be displayed together to form a continuous panoramic landscape scene. The imagery features prominent Vietnamese cultural iconography, including a representation of the One Pillar Pagoda (Chua Mot Cot) in Hanoi, depicted on the left side of the composition over a pond. The scene transitions across the panels to show three women dressed in traditional Vietnamese ao dai attire strolling through a park-like setting near a lotus pond with cranes and a weeping willow tree. The panels are constructed of wood or MDF with a high-gloss lacquer finish. The sky is rendered in a vibrant gradient transition from teal blue to black. The figures, buildings, and plants are detailed with intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay, utilizing both engraved and iridescent shell fragments to create texture and depth. Each panel is framed with a black lacquer border featuring scrolling floral and foliate shell motifs. The reverse of the panels is finished in black lacquer and fitted with triangular metal hanging hardware. Small white adhesive labels printed with MADE IN VIETNAM are present on the reverse.
Each Panel Measures: 39.25″ wide x 19.5″ tall
The panels appear to be in generally good condition with vibrant colors and intact mother-of-pearl inlay. Close-up inspection reveals minor surface scuffs and fine scratches on the black lacquer borders, consistent with light handling. The structural integrity of the panels and the hanging hardware is sound.
