Description
A group of three contemporary Chinese ink and color paintings on paper attributed to the artist Zu Huang (born 1937). The collection includes three distinct compositions demonstrating various traditional and modern brushwork techniques. The first painting is a vertical landscape titled Magnificent View of Mount Huang (Huangshan Juesheng Tu), featuring the splashed color (pohu) technique with vibrant mineral blue pigments, depicting mountain peaks and traditional architecture. The second work is a horizontal river scene titled Early Spring on the Beautiful River (Xiujiang Chunzao), centered on a large green willow tree and waterside dwellings. The third work, titled Fishing Family (Yujia), presents a stylized scene with three fishing boats positioned below abstract grey wash forms. All three paintings are executed on paper and two are finished with patterned fabric-like paper borders.
Inscriptions and Marks:
Item 1: Titled at top right Huangshan Juesheng Tu (黄山绝胜图) and dated to the Dingmao year (1987). It bears three red seals, including the artist seal Zu Huang (祖煌).
Item 2: Titled at left Xiujiang Chunzao (秀江春早) and dated 1982, with the signature and seal of Zu Huang. An additional square red seal is located at the top right.
Item 3: Titled at left Yujia (渔家) and dated 1981, signed Zu Huang zuo (祖煌作) with a single red artist seal.

Item 3: 14 inches x 17 inches.
Fair to good condition. All three paintings exhibit minor creasing and light foxing. Significant pigment and ink bleed-through is visible on the reverse of the paper. Item 3 (Fishing Family) shows a prominent brown moisture or tannin stain in the lower right quadrant that is visible from both sides. All items are unframed and appear to have been previously rolled.
