Description

This late 19th-century sepia-toned photogravure, titled East Indian Horsemen, is after a painting by the prominent American Orientalist Edwin Lord Weeks (1849-1903). According to the documentation on the reverse, the print was produced in 1890 by Goupil Photogravure in New York for the publication Recent Ideals of American Art by George William Sheldon. A circular blindstamp is present in the lower-left corner of the image, although the specific lettering is not discernible. The verso bears a certificate of authenticity from Vintage Gravures, dated 11-13-16 and signed MK Tower AHPCS.
