Lot 256:
Description
A set of four graduated nesting mixing bowls crafted from opaque light mint green glass, a material historically referred to as Jadeite or Jadite. This glass contains uranium oxide as a coloring agent, which causes the bowls to exhibit a vivid, bright green fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light. The bowls are manufactured using a pressed glass technique and feature a vertical fluted or ribbed design on the exterior body. The underside of each bowl is decorated with a molded radial sunburst pattern. This combination of form and pattern is characteristic of the Skokie Green line. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the pieces.
Largest bowl diameter: 8 inches
Largest bowl height: 4 inches.
The collection is in good used condition with significant signs of domestic wear. There is visible dark discoloration and staining along the interior and exterior rims of all four bowls. The interior surfaces show extensive scratching and scuffing consistent with regular contact from mixing implements. No structural cracks or large chips are observed.
