Description

This collection features an assortment of five contemporary studio pottery vessels, including pieces attributed to C.R. Auman of Seagrove, North Carolina. The group consists of a small wheel-thrown stoneware bottle with a glossy olive-green glaze and an impressed maker mark of three nested right angles on the base. A tall baluster-form vase is decorated with a dark brown tenmoku-style glaze, featuring a light tan brush-applied botanical motif on the body and a cream-colored neck and interior rim; the base bears handwritten marks in black ink. A flared stoneware vase exhibits a thick, textured white glaze over a speckled orange-brown body and is marked 4/9 with a stylized character on the underside. Also included are a rounded jar with a mustard-tan base and variegated blue and white dripping glaze, and a small wheel-thrown cup with a vertically divided speckled cream and dark metallic glaze.

Tallest vase: 7.5 inches.

The items are in overall good condition with some exceptions. The olive-green bottle shows minor glaze skips and small chips at the shoulder. The white and orange-brown vase has a visible firing crack or open void on the unglazed foot rim. The small two-tone cup has a small chip on the outer edge of the base rim.
