Lot 372:
Description
This lot comprises two decorative porcelain ginger jars representing distinct Asian ceramic traditions. The first is a Chinese porcelain ginger jar with a domed lid, decorated in a dense, polychrome millefleur or thousand flowers pattern. A multi-colored Greek key border accents the shoulder. The base bears a red diamond-shaped stamp with the Chinese characters for Made in China above the English text MADE IN CHINA. The second jar is an open porcelain vessel decorated in the Japanese Imari style and is currently missing its lid. An oval silver foil sticker is present on the underside.
Jar 1 (Lidded): 5 inches in height
Jar 2 (Open): 5.5 inches in height.
The lidded Chinese jar has a visible hairline crack on the inner neck rim, though the lid is intact. The Imari style jar is missing its original lid. Both pieces exhibit general light surface wear and minor rubbing to the gilded accents consistent with decorative use.
