Description
This lot features two collectible stoneware beer steins representing different periods and themes. The first is a Villeroy and Boch Mettlach stoneware stein, form number 2900. The exterior displays a multi-colored relief wraparound scene of the Cerveceria Argentina Quilmes brewery complex in Argentina, featuring detailed industrial buildings, smokestacks, and railway lines. The text Cerveceria Argentina Quilmes is rendered in raised relief. The upper border is decorated with a band of hops and leaves, and the base features a pattern of wheat ears. The underside of the base is incised with the number 2900 and contains a blue transfer mark depicting the Mettlach Villeroy and Boch logo and the text Saar-Basin, dating the production between 1920 and 1935.
The second item is a lidded Racing Car Stein produced in 1989 by Ceramarte in Brazil for Avon Products, Inc. The stoneware body features high-relief scenes depicting the history of automobile racing, from early 20th-century cars to modern Formula 1 styles. The handle is decorated with blue racing stripes. The ceramic lid is fitted with a metal rim and features a checkered flag pattern topped with a metal finial in the shape of a vintage race car. The ceramic thumb lift is designed as a car wheel. The base is marked with the product title, production year, and a stamped serial number 23485.

Avon Stein Height: 8.5 inches.
Condition report:
The Mettlach stein is in good external condition with no chips or cracks noted; however, the original lid is missing, and there is significant brown staining and discoloration visible on the interior rim and inside the vessel. The Avon stein is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
