Description
A collection of four contemporary American studio pottery pieces, all executed in various stoneware bodies and glaze styles. The first piece is a large, deep bowl with tapered sides featuring a multi-tonal interior and exterior of ochre, brown, and moss green glazes. The exterior is decorated with expressive dark iron oxide brushwork. The unglazed base is incised with the script signature Hubbard. The second piece is a wide bowl characterized by five notches along the rim. It is finished with a glossy deep burgundy interior glaze, while the exterior displays horizontal banding in olive and tan tones, including a textured grey-blue band with a vertical rouletted pattern. The base features an applied circular clay pad incised with the script signature Clark. The third piece is a tapered bowl with a matte reddish-brown exterior decorated with an incised fish and wavy line motif. The interior is finished in a mottled, satin blue-green glaze. The final piece is a small, hand-thrown cup finished in a speckled light grey glaze and hand-painted with a cherry motif in red and dark brown.
Large Hubbard bowl: 8 inches diameter, 4 inches height
Notched Clark bowl: 6 inches diameter, 3 inches height
Fish motif bowl: 6.5 inches diameter, 3.5 inches height
Speckled cup: 3.25 inches diameter, 2.75 inches height.
