Description
A vintage professional-grade portable resonator xylophone manufactured by the Leedy Manufacturing Co. of Indianapolis, Indiana. The instrument features a set of graduated dark wood bars, likely rosewood, each incised with its corresponding musical note. One primary bar is stamped with an oval maker mark that reads LEEDY MFG. CO. INDIANAPOLIS, IND. and another bar is incised with the number 992 and the letter F. The instrument includes two separate racks of brass resonator tubes and a two-part collapsible frame constructed of nickel-plated metal and wood components. The wooden sections of the frame are finished with a cream-colored pearloid or mother-of-pearl style wrap. Accompanying the instrument is a set of four heavy-duty brass-finish casters marked THE COLSON CO. ELYRIA OHIO U.S.A. PATENT APPLIED FOR – L5. A collection of twelve mallets is included, featuring dark round heads and light-colored wooden shafts, several of which are stamped B-4 HARD. The entire set is housed in two original black hard-shell transport cases with blue fabric-lined interiors and brass-finish hardware. The interior of both cases features a green printed label reading FROM LEEDY MANUFACTURING CO. 1033-1047 EAST PALMER ST., INDIANAPOLIS, IND. U.S.A.
