Description

This lot consists of a vintage children’s picture record set titled For the Children, released as part of the Vogue series by Sav-Way Industries of Detroit, Michigan, circa 1946-1947. The set includes two 10-inch 78 RPM records and their original gatefold-style storage jacket. These picture records are constructed with a central aluminum core, overlaid with printed paper illustrations and protected by a clear vinyl coating. The illustrations on all four record sides are by the artist Kanouse and bear the artist’s signature.

The discs feature the Vogue The Picture Record logo and are identified as a Tom Saffady Product. Fine print on the records states: Licensed for non-commercial use on home phonographs only, P-80 through P-83, Sav-Way Industries, Detroit 13, Michigan – Pat. Pending.

The jacket is in poor to fair condition, showing significant paper loss and tearing along the upper edge and spine. There is heavy chipping to the corners and edges, along with general staining and surface wear. The red interior lining is exposed where the outer paper has failed. The records are in good vintage condition. The illustrations remain bright and vibrant. There are typical light surface scuffs and minor scratches consistent with age and use, but no visible cracks, chips, or delamination. The records have not been tested for audio playback quality.
