Description
This 19th-century steel engraving, titled The Odalisque, is after an original painting by Frederick Leighton (British, 1830–1896) and was executed by engraver Lumb Stocks (British, 1812–1892). Below the image, the print bears the transcribed text FREDERICK LEIGHTON, R.A. PINXT at the lower left and LUMB STOCKS, R.A. SCULPT at the lower right. Centered below the title is the inscription, IN THE COLLECTION OF ROBERT LEAKE, ESQ. ECCLES, MANCHESTER. The work is a steel engraving characterized by precise, fine lines and a visible plate mark.

The paper exhibits significant overall toning and scattered light foxing throughout the margins and in the lighter areas of the image.
