Description

This intaglio print by Salvador Dali is an etching with drypoint, pochoir color, and hand-applied gold flake highlights from the 1971 suite Song of Songs of Solomon. The composition depicts a central nude male figure with flowing hair and a beard, identified as The Shepherd, surrounded by stylized stalks of wheat and red floral elements. A distinct rectangular plate mark is visible around the central image area, indicating the pressure of the printing press. The work is hand-signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right margin with his characteristic stylized signature. The lower left margin is inscribed in pencil E.A., denoting this impression as an artist proof (Epreuve d Artiste).

Frame: 31 x 24 inches.

The print is in good condition with light, uniform toning consistent with age. There are no visible tears, foxing, or evidence of significant plate wear. The frame shows minor surface abrasions and light wear to the gilded finish. The reverse is sealed with paper tape and fitted with a hanging wire.
