Description
A mid-century hand-blown art glass ashtray or small bowl produced in the Murano style. The piece features a ruffled handkerchief (fazzoletto) rim. The design incorporates a sommerso technique with a central sunburst pattern of red and amber-yellow glass containing silver foil inclusions. The clear glass body and rim are further decorated with spiraled red glass threads. The base has a circular ground-and-polished pontil mark. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible. Small internal air bubbles, known as seeds, are present throughout the glass.
Height: 2.5 inches.
The item is in good vintage condition. Small chip on side as pictured. Some scratches inside bowl. The small internal air bubbles are inherent to the hand-blown manufacturing process.
