A collection of eight vintage issues of Masters in Art: A Series of Illustrated Monographs, published monthly by the Bates and Guild Company at 42 Chauncy Street, Boston. This set includes Part 40 through Part 59, spanning from April 1903 to November 1904. The included issues are: April 1903, Raphael (Frescos); August 1903, Rosa Bonheur; January 1904, Fra Bartolommeo; February 1904, Greuze; March 1904, Albrecht Durer (Engravings); June 1904, Vermeer of Delft; August 1904, Hubert and Jan Van Eyck; and November 1904, Veronese.

Height: 10 inches
Width: 7 inches.

These ephemeral publications show condition consistent with age and materials. The paper wrappers exhibit heavy toning and foxing, with prominent staining on the Vermeer and Greuze issues. The bindings show significant wear, including fraying, chipping, and small tears along the spines and edges. The interior pages are toned and may be brittle, though the illustrated plates remain generally clean and well-preserved.
