Description
This lot comprises two vintage collectibles featuring the Scottish Terrier dog breed. The first item is a specialty gas-discharge glow lamp produced by the Aerolux Light Corporation. The interior of the clear glass bulb contains a metal silhouette of a Scottish Terrier standing on a ceramic insulating block. When powered, the neon gas within creates a warm orange-red glow around the canine figure. The lamp features a brass Edison screw base stamped with AEROLUX LIGHTS MADE IN U.S.A. The second item is a solid cast metal figurine of a seated Scottish Terrier. The piece is modeled with a textured surface representing the breed’s wiry coat and alert expression. The figurine is finished with a dark brown to black patinated or painted surface. Small areas of green oxidation are visible on the underside. No maker’s marks are present on the figurine.
Aerolux lamp: 4 inches in length, 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Figurine: 5 1/4 inches in height.
The Aerolux glow lamp is functional and in good vintage condition. The brass base exhibits a natural aged patina and light surface oxidation. The cast metal figurine is in good condition with surface wear typical of age. There are scattered losses to the dark finish on the textured high points and the underside, revealing the lighter base metal.
