Description
This pair of mid-19th-century French fashion plates are steel engravings with hand-coloring. The first engraving is titled Petit Courrier des Dames and features Modes de Paris from Paris, Boulevard des Italiens, No. 1. It depicts two women and a child in an interior setting and includes the names Pauquet and a Portier, with plate number 2375. The second engraving is titled LE FOLLET from Boulevart St. Martin, 69. It illustrates three women in an outdoor setting and includes detailed text regarding the milliners and dressmakers: Chapeaux de Baronne, Fleurs de Chagot aine r Richelieu, 73, and Robes de Camille. This print is signed Annis Coudouze and bears the printer mark Imp. Leroy r des Marais, 66 and plate number 2376. Both prints feature delicate hand-coloring over fine line work.
Frame: 14 x 11.5 inches.
Both prints exhibit visible foxing and general toning to the paper consistent with their age. The frames are in good condition with minor scuffs and surface wear.
